Top Reasons Why Many U.S. Public Schools Are Deficient
Accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission Inc., TNT Academy is a private middle and high school that encourages academic success by providing students with opportunities that will develop their strengths. TNT Academy strives to create an environment that facilitates personal positive learning, which is often lacking in public school education.
Many students struggle in public schools all over the United States. One of the reasons for this is lack of parental involvement, which studies have shown can dramatically improve student performance. To get parents engaged in their children’s education after school hours, schools need to develop effective parental involvement programs.
Regarding the overcrowding of schools, the National Center for Education Statistics discovered that 14 percent of schools in the U.S. are overcrowded. Because teachers can become overwhelmed with a large number of students and children are unable to get the personalized attention they may need, smaller classes are often more conducive to facilitating learning.
Students who do poorly or drop out of school are often bored and frustrated because of an ineffective curriculum that follows the traditional classroom model. Schools benefit their students when they implement a more innovative curriculum that can keep students engaged through collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.

Why Teaching Philanthropy Is Important for Adolescents
TNT Academy is a private middle and high school in Georgia. Through nontraditional and flexible programs for its students, the school maintains a high graduation rate. In addition to providing a robust curriculum, TNT Academy offers a number of opportunities for students to get involved in philanthropy, including organizing toy drives, collecting clothing for people facing homelessness, donating food to local food banks.
Introducing children and adolescents to philanthropy is important because it makes giving a habit that can continue into adulthood. Also, giving can improve both behavior and achievement. The developmental psychologist Marilyn Price Mitchell has written about the benefits of kindness for growing minds. Adolescents who engage in kindness tend to have increased feelings of well-being, which can translate to better behavior in the classroom and greater academic achievement.
Philanthropy that focuses on the needs of the local community exposes students to different experiences and socioeconomic realities. When these students see the positive effects their work can have on people in need, they gain confidence in their abilities, which pushes them to achieve even more.

The TNT Academy’s Credit Recovery Program
Over the course of 25 years working in private, public, and Christian schools, the founder of the TNT Academy began the program because she saw the need for a school that caters to various learning preferences and speeds. As part of its efforts to help students attain their high school diplomas, the TNT Academy offers accelerated programs, a summer school, and a credit recovery program.
The TNT Credit Recovery Program is open to students from both public and private schools, and offers the opportunity to make up one half or one whole of a full study credit. Students attend regular classes and gain access to experienced teachers, who explain and assign the work required to earn the credit. Beyond this, the program provides additional class time and Skype sessions for students who wish to continue studying in their own time. Typically, the student must commit to between two and four months of study to earn a half credit.
Prices vary from $150 per half credit program to $300 per full credit, and students can sign up for the program by visiting the TNT Academy.
